For whatever the reason, you end up with a gift card that either you cannot use or it’s from an establishment you don’t normally grace.  Maybe an out-of-town relative mistakenly got you a card for a restaurant whose closest location is two states away, or you were mistaken for someone who loves seafood, but it can happen to you!
