Is It OK To Convert A DVD To Another Format For Personal Use?
Isn’t that the question of the hour? These days people have all sorts of handsets and devices that they’d like to be able to watch movies on but can’t simply because they don’t have a DVD player. For instance, what if you have a Macbook Air without any optical drive? No drive = no movies, right? I suppose you could always get an external USB DVD drive, but what’s the point to having a tiny Macbook Air and have a clunky external to lug around?
Anyhow, the legality of converting DVDs to playable video files is still being debated in some areas. It is obviously illegal when it comes to sharing those movie files with other people, but we’re talking personal use here. In fact, the rule changes depending on where you live. My advice, check the laws where you live.
Once you know that it is legal, you can then go ahead and find some sort of software that will do the converting for you and today I’d like to share one such software with you. It’s called ImToo and it’s a video converter that’ll make it possible to watch your movies on other devices. It works on Windows but they also have a video converter for Mac. Now I’m not a Mac fanboy (never even owned or extensively used one) but I know a lot of people may be looking for an iPad video converter to watch your movies from your tablet. Hey, I’m just happy that some of the video file types will play on Android devices.
