Isaiah 36 and part of 37

Feb. × ’12

Sorry it has been a while since I posted.

This section of Isaiah is about a specific time the king of Assyria came against Israel. The Assyrian king reminded them of the others they had conquered before but the Jews would not cave in. Then they asked Isaiah to pray and God said that the Assyrian king would be called away and destroyed. How often do things threaten to destroy us? We must rest on and seek God when these things come. Trusting in His promise to take care of us and be with us.

Isaiah 30-31

1st
Feb. × ’12

These chapters are warnings about coming judgements because Israel went to Egypt for help instead of trusting God. How often we do the same thing. We choose to go to the world for wisdom whether it be the media or therapists. We have taken there advice and neglected Bible reading and prayer. It is time we returned our faith to where it belongs before our own judgment comes (if it hasn’t already)!

Isaiah 24 and 25

Isaiah 24 is more about God bringing judgement on people.

Isaiah 25 is about the ultimate glory that we everyone will give to God after all the destruction is over. Also how he will take care of all our tears and struggles in the end. How basically in the end His victory will be ours as well.

Isaiah 20-23

Jan. × ’12

All of these chapters seem to be about the destruction of certain people groups or cities. It was rather depressing and hard for me to understand exactly what was going on.

PS Sorry I haven’t posted this week I was having computer issues.

Isaiah 18 and 19

I didn’t really understand chapter 18. It seemed like it was both a threat and a promise of protection.

Chapter 19 seems to be about punishing and bringing Egypt low so it will come to God.

Isaiah 16 and17

10th
Jan. × ’12

Chapter 16 is about the destruction of  Moab. It seems like a famine is going to come on them and no body will be able to do anything about it.

Chapter 17 is about a chastening of Israel I think. Where God will allow hardship because of the sin of His people.

It seems like God is always having to chastise someone. How sad that even today we can’t seem to get it right. Even with all the examples in the old and new testaments we still think we know better or choose to fall into sin. God provides instruction and a way out and we just keep going the way we want to.

These chapters are about the destruction of the enemies of God and Israel. I am definitely glad to not be counted one of them!

Isaiah 13

Jan. × ’12

This chapter is all about the destruction of Babylon. I couldn’t help but wander and wish as I was reading that people would repent and believe.  The Bible says we are all with out excuse but it is so hard for me to imagine choosing that destruction over a relationship with  God, who has shown love and mercy to us so often. How sad that so many will choose destruction over His love, mercy and grace! How we spit in His face each time we reject! Or CHOOSE to ignore what He has for us!

Isaiah 11 and 12

I believe these chapters are about the peace that shall come with the second coming of Christ. How marvelous for so much to be restored to what it was meant to be! Animals and people all living in peace. Oh for that day to come soon!!

Isaiah 8-10

3rd
Jan. × ’12

These talk of coming judgments on Israel and the restoration of her purity through them. Also the punishment of the enemies God will use to restore Israel.  There is also the promise of the coming kingdom of Christ in them. Sometimes its easy for me to pass judgment on Israel and wonder how they could be so foolish. But today while reading this passage God reminded me of how often I fail him or am rebellious toward what I know he wants for me. I also have to be punished with trials so I will return to him. We are no better than those who have failed before us. How awesome that God is still in the business of restoring His foolish and rebellious children!
